Dear students,

In this entry, I want to hear your sincere comments on what you think about the utilization of blog in our Writing Class. Please be honest. Leave your comments before 12.30 tonight.

I think that the utilization of blog for educational purpose make my work easier. In fact, it enhances my computing skills. Frankly, at first i thought that it was a burden for me because I've to go to the cybercafe and pay for the fee. But then after my dad bought me a laptop, i change my mind and find out that blogging is interesting and I'm becoming more addicted to it.

I don't really agree with above comment. I am not an "IT" person.
Plus, I don't have laptop so that I need to go to Internet Cafe everytime. However, what i like about it is I can submit any assignment as late as I can. (^_^)

By blogging in order to submit my assignments, I am improving my IT skills and I feel that it is very enjoyable to accomplish my assignments here. However,it is not easy for those who do not have their own laptop just like me. But I think it is not an accuse as long as we are determine to do it.

In my point of view, I find blogging is undeniably useful and an effective way for educational purpose. Sincerely, it is hard for me to submit your assignments as I do not own a laptop thus I had to borrow from my friends or go to the cybercafe. Plus, I need to be alert when there is new assignments given. However, I do not have any problem with your method of teaching. (:

Assalamualaikum, first of all, thank you for responding this soon. Did not expect some of you to respond this quickly because before this assignment, most of you waited till the very last minute hand in your assignment. As mentioned by Atiqah, having to blog for english class, she managed to get her father to buy her a laptop.

I am sorry that some of you have to spend some amount of money to be using the computers and the Internet services in order to hand in your assignments. But hey, no pain no gain. What is the small amount of money to be compared to knowledge you gain from here, right? Do you all agree with me on this matter?

What bothers me, however, is the fact that you believe that using blog for your writing class has improved you in your IT skills, computer skill to be more specific. No one has mentioned anything on how by using the blog, he or she has improved in her writing. This seems beat the purpose of my intention in utilizing blog in teaching writing. Does anyone have anything to say about this one??

Assalamualaikum..
Basically,as we know there are many benefits from learning through blogging. From my opinion,i could improve my grammar if i go the web which offer additional notes, and from there we could learn more while at the same time i am blogging.Blogging is really an effective way of learning instead of writing in the paper and pass it up which is a common way of learning. But,sometimes it might be a burden for me as i do not have the internet connection in my dorm thus i need to go to the cyber cafe in order to blog. But I think this burden will be forgotten once i score higher in the exam.No pain no gain right! In short, blogging bring a new era in the learning process which could make learning more interesting and challenging.

madam. sorry to say. i also find it a bit difficult at first knowing that i have to online in order for me to post assignment in this blog. im not a blogger so im not used to it. however, after some time, im getting comfortable with this way and the utilization of blog actually is a fun way because im able to check on mypace and friendster right after i have done posting comments. thank you, madam. hehe.. :)
to conclude, im okay with it right now. frankly.

well, well.. looks like the same people responded twice. Thank you for that.I think I see a pattern here.. those who have the internet connection love using blog to learn like this. Those who do not have the access lament the fact that they have to go through so much travel as they have to walk to the cyber cafe just to submit their assignments. Good point Ameena, when you said that you now have a better purpose of using the Internet.

Ain, those who have the same ideas as you have would agree that learning how to write would also help you to feel motivated maybe? Most young people (I am not denying that old people) also feel excited when experiencing new things. But it does excite you to learn English more, right??

Wafa, glad that you like it now. You used to hate the idea of having to blog in order to submit your assignment, right? Well, to know someone is to love someone. Same thing applies to everything else in life. To blog is to love blogging. Could that be a fallacy?

Salam madam. In my opinion, I believe that there is a postive and negative consequences of using blog for learning purpose. I am not really good in using blog and i am also unfamiliar with blog since I have never used blog in terms of communication. However, at the very first time you let us know that you wanted to use blog as a learning medium for the class, I find it very interesting and being exposed to blog really improve my computer as well as my IT skills. As for the disadvantages, I feel that I always potponed to submit the asignment given because there is no fixed time to submit it. Sometimes, I am unaware of the task that you wanted us to do because I do not have the access to the internet and I have to go to the cyber cafe to complete the assignment. If my friends do not inform me that we have an assignment to submit to you, I would never knew about it.

well, i think it is interesting to use a blog as a medium of education because of certain advantages; easy to do the research about the topics that had been given in class and easy to submit the assignments. To be frank, madam, i think you should put some sorts of educational games such as spelling bee and crosswords puzzles in order to make us addicted to visit your blog. To avoid your blog o become lame and dull, try to put some musics as a remedy to make us calm. you can also share as many pics as you like to show us the real life of you. that's all. thank u!

Assalamualaikum. I like this blog very much. Like others says before it kind of very interesting way of learning that I never have this experience before. However, I am pity to my friends who do not have a laptop and do not have wi-fi around their mahallah. They have to go to the cybercafé to submit your assignment. This cost them lot of money.

assalamualaikum. firstly, sorry to say.i do not like to use keyboard to type something. actually i love the traditional way which is writing using pen and paper. if i do not get any information about task given by you in your blog, i will submit it late. that is why i always submut mt comment late. things become difficult when there is no internet connection at midnight. i wrote this comment two times because accidentally, there is no internet connection and i have lost what i have wrote before. however, i like your style using internet as the elements of teaching. before, a spend a lot of time thinking what i am going to write using keyboard because i can generate my ideas faster if i write using pen. now, i can write assignment and think faster when using keyboard compared to the first time i do my task in your blog. thank you. assalamualaikum.

salam madam...honestly as for me by using blog it would be easier for me to search informations on subject-topics that you wanted us to discuss...as it easier for me to get informations directly from the internet...nevertheless, at cfs nilai, just some places that can access the internet..plus, the wireless connection at cfs nilai is bad...i do not feel good cuz sometimes act most of the times i need to borrow my friends laptop...I dont mind to pay for the internet connection at cc...but the only problem is that i really dont have so much time to go surf for the internet at cc..i think it would be better if we use our time at class wholely for writing practices..maybe we can use blog for some exercies only...because sometimes i do not alert with the assignment given ...
maybe it is not suitable to submit the assignment at the blog, because for the mean time the efficiency of wireless connection at iium is very2 poor..

Honestly madam, before I joined your class my assumption of blogging is general just like others would say, that blogging is way to express ideas and to attain from it information on certain thing. However since I join your class, you help me to really understand the real meaning to have blogging skills that is to improve my English, even though I barely improve since then. But to me it is a significant advancement as now I can always learn whenever and wherever I am. With blog my English class no longer confine to a particular venue and time. For example if you failed to be in Nilai, you can still make sure your students learn. And to me, this not only eases your responsibility and work but also ours as your student. I am really thankful that you utilized this type of electronic media in teaching us. To conclude, what I am saying is that now I see blog as a virtual classroom. And this really made the term learning from cradle to grave a meaningful quote because as long you have your laptop/pc or any other piece of equipment that enables you to browse the internet, you will be able to learn and even attend a class.
Madam, I really hope this virtual classroom would always be here even though we are no longer your responsibility, where we can always refer to you about English and other matters.
Thank you.

Ps: sorry I was late madam, just coming back from English debate class hosted by Brother Habib and his frenz….

i totally agree with how you said "i think I see a pattern here.. those who have the internet connection love using blog to learn like this. Those who do not have the access lament the fact that they have to go through so much travel as they have to walk to the cyber cafe just to submit their assignments."

for ppl who like this blog idea, they have the right resources so therefore its a no-problem for them..but then again for ppl who don't..the its a hassle for them a they have to go through twoce the trouble.

i personally don't really have any comments on this probbly because this is only my 2nd time here.. so i havent been through what you guys been through..so im no one to say

but....*snaps-snaps* for Mdm for coming up with this idea..she's just so full of awesomeness =D

i don't see any hardship in using blog learn English. this is becoz we here in nilai have cyber cafes and and cyberlab that can be use to surf the internet and blogging at the same time. people who did not have laptop can still lent their friend's laptop to surf the internet. the only culprit to be blame is internet connection and where it is available, both wired and wireless connection. i think maybe this situation will improve. the nilai campus area especially at the Block B already had 50% wireless coverage. and i even enjoys wireless connection from my dorm.

Abu and Ameena, it seems that only the two of you among my students who are somehow also active bloggers. Good for you. I hope that this blog has helped you in anyway to improve your English.
The trouble with this method of teaching and learning is, not everyone has the privilege of having a laptop with the access to the Internet. Not everyone can afford it and this hinder somehow the process.
I appreciate the efforts some of you have done, walking in the rain to submit your assignment in the cc not so nearby. Life is such! Life isn't fair, is it?

To be frank,at the beginning,I thought by using blog as an educational purpose would cause problem to the students especially for those who do not have laptop. This is because they need to 'sacrifice their money and time' eventhough they can learn English in class for free. However,I was mistake.Instead,by using blog I manage to increase my writing skill by looking others' essay on how they arrange their sentences and using bombastic words. Therefore, the reason that the students used to give 'sacrifice money and time' should be 'destroyed' among students and myself. This is because why we manage to spend time for such a long hours with our girlfriend or boyfriend eventhough we just need a few minutes to finish our task in blog? And why we afford to buy a Gucci watch for our partners eventhough we just need RM2.00 to online? Am I right Madam?(=

p/s:Madam,I had already sent my comment earlier. But,when I looked back in this blog, there was no comment of mine.

D-Zul... I am glad that you think of blogging positively. Maybe you should start your own blog so that I can read what you think about what make sense to your life. You are good at relating what you see in everyday life with you education. That's what we call constructive knowledge. You use what you see around you to teach you things... you do not depend on what you learn in class only. A Gucci watch for a partner? Who would do such thing and still complained about having to spend money for a visit at the cyber cafe? Shame on whoever... duh!
