It is disagreed that people should stop learning just for the purpose of possesing credential because it was the main purpose for people and students especially to have credential nowadays,it was actually the ticket for them to get jobs if they have the credential in whatever fields and it was necessary for them being a person who have excellent credential to be respected by others.
sorry,i sent it too early..

Teacher said...

No, you did not send it too early. You are the first and I am proud of you. I am still waiting for someone to refute your opinion.

Hello... where are the others?

Izzuddin said...

Hello! haha.

It is agreed that people should stop learning just for the purpose
of possessing credentials because it is wrong to seek knowledge for the purpose of getting credentials, it is not the only tickets for getting job even if they have credentials on every fields and it is not simply possessing a credential does imply universal acceptance or trust.

Ha amek kau. Haha.
It took me two hour to get this done. (=_=")

ANIS ZAID said...

salam everyone..
there are pro and cons for his statement.
the positive credential gain is the motivation for people to pursue learning as the credential given is the physical gain that can be used in getting better job or showing what they have learn.
on the other hand, some people just want the credential but did not put much emphasis on the learning itself. so, they might have the certificate, but they did not get the knowledge.

ANIS ZAID said...

salam madam. i just want to ask about the 3rd assignment.
how many copies do we need to do for the class??
is it a copy for a person?

tq.

It is disagreed that people should stop learning just for the purpose of possesing credentials as it is the mean of individual to get credentials, such through learning academics. It is hard to argue if people should stop learning because there are scarce example of people who made it with great success without any academic background.

Teacher said...

Can anyone provide examples of people who made it to the top without possessing any academic credentials?

Anis, The third assignment: the copies must be made for each group. In other words, make another 4 copies for the other groups. You don't have to make for each.

Does anyone else agree that having credentials help one to be more motivated to pursue higher credentials?

JuNaidy said...

peace be upon you.. cehXb

it is disagree that people should stop learning just for the purpose of possesing credential because how far can students go without good credential especially in education institution. its the only way students can get good certificate to compete with other graduates. So welcome to reality and its cruel.

However I cannot deny the fact there's some cons in learning only to have good credential. Usually this type of students, which people calls 'nerd', will become too relying on theories. Well not all of them that is.

So, students should get involved a bit in institution activities which serve as a practical learning, to somehow get them prepared for whats to come when they starts to work. However students should not get too carried away.

Well if its such a pain, students might as well go with bribery, it works practically and theoricaly..
haha..

sorry if its too long..
(I might as well write an essay already)

madam,replying your question:
i read news today entitled "Haji Ibrahim Pengusaha Bas Ekspres-this person ended his school when he was 15(form 3), but as god blessed him he succeeded as an owner of express bus company.

hence, it is agreed that people should stop learning just for the purpose of possesssing credentials because, it is not a necessity to learn only for the sake of credentials but indeed it is a need to learn for your future life.

as junaidy said that "how far can students go without good credential especially in education institution" but, note that how many of the graduated students being unemployed?

i think people are always in the process of learning, either formally or informally including learning from mistakes and experiences.

hehe...

Salam madam,

It is agreed that people should stop learning just for the purpose of possessing credentials because the most important thing is his or her intention. They should have good intention and effort to possess credentials because without effort, nothing is possible. Many people gained credentials without having them study abroad or have higher educations. In Islam itself, the most important thing is effort.

fahmi kadir said...

It is disagree because learning is a process to gain knowledge. Without knowledge we can’t do anything. The credentials is important but it comes after knowledge. So, we can’t stop learning in order to gain credentials.
We should not stop learning because, in Islam the process of learning is consider as Ibadah, with the knowledge we can’t be cheat by anyone, we need to have the knowledge in order to prepare for the future, and we must have the knowledge to build our nation.
In sum, learning is one of process to survive in our life. We learn from our mistake, experience and other many ways. After leave the university, just knowledge can guide us to prepare for the future…

It is disagreed that people should stop learning just for the purpose of possessing credentials because learning is an everyday process . we learn and experience new things everyday in our life . Learning is not just based on academic only in fact it is based on the process of living . The real process of learning is learning from our own mistake and we make mistake everyday and thats the best way of learning . It does not have to be neither theoratical nor practical . In conclusion , learning is a whole life process where we start to learn from the day we were born till our last breath ..

It is disagreed that people should stop learning just for the purpose of getting credentials because it is already stated in the Al-Quran that Muslims should seek for knowledge.Learning is a part of our lives as we keep learning from our mistakes and experiences.People don't learn something in order to obtain credentials from other people. Those who does that are kind of hypocrites because its too practical. We should seek for knowledge so that we can achieve the highest level of our lives.

Muhammad Ali Hadad said...

It is agreed that people should stop learning just for the purpose of possessing credentials because it will make oneself to study only to get credentials but not wholeheartedly. This will cause one have more tendency to forget what they have learn after they get 'pass' for the subjects taken. The examples are just around you. Try and ask anybody around you to explain the things that they have learned before. Only those who study for the sake of future can remember.
Besides that, this kind of rule can only produce a no-quality-employee.

Sorry. I wrote too much but i manage to stop myself, somehow.

assalamualaikum madam..

For me,it has both pro and contrast. For the pro, with a credentials, people will more confident about our potentials to do something.Besides thats, people also will heard and concern about our ideas and opinion. For the example,John West's theory about the origin of Sphinx is rejected just because he did not has a credentials in scientifics study.

For the contrast, students will only study without doing anything else. This will make them a passive and closed minded students.Sametime they also can not impliment and apply what they had learn. They also will become stressed if they did not achive an exellent result.

There for,we can conclude that knowledge is important in our life in order to survive in this challenging world.Islam also encourage us to study as much as we can and make it as Ibadah. The first revealed also teachs us to learn.Thats all, thank you.

I not agree that students should stop learning just for the purpose of possessing credentials because it can be as motivate to them. Students will try very hard in their studies to get this purpose and it very good for them. Although, it seem like selfish or waste time and energy but it may give good effect.

Interesting, interesting, interesting ideas and opinions you all have written... and please do not be apprehensive to write 'long' comments as the longer it is the better because you have issues to be discussed here.

Sarahzahira, you have understood the real task that I have posted for your 4th assignment. You argued Junaidy's point. I do hope more and more are reading your friends' comments and work on that, argue with them. That makes the conversation, the dialogue more meaningful.

By giving examples of people who have made it to the top without having that piece of credential we call certificate, you helped to prove your arguments. Arguments must be supported by facts, not generalization.

I am so proud that all of you have tried your best in writing your comments in the most careful way (not to make that much mistakes in the language). Good job that is. Keep up the good work.

Amirah made a really good point. Do you agree?

Ali Hadad provides a very good example which is really close to real life. How about that? Would you agree with him too?

To my ex-student, please... do not be afraid to join the discussion. The more the merrier.

You have another 1 hour and a half to submit your assignment. To those who have posted the assignment here, good job. I shall reward you later. What type of reward, do not ask yet. I am still thinking about it.

salam..i think that it is agreed that people should stop learning just for the purpose of possessing credentials because people wouldnt put their effort to the limit and for sure they would easily forget what they had learned, such a waste.learning process happens in every single day in our life, not just in class or to gain credentials.

Assalamualaikum madam.. i'm so sorry for the late submittion.. regarding to this topic, actually i agreed with your ex student.people should learn for the sake of ibadah.nothing to do with the credentials if people have the false intention.

salam...i disagreed because learning is something that important to people.Every people have their own step in gaining knowledge, sometimes several people born with genius brain and some doesn't.if we not do some revision,we can easily forgot about something that we learn.Islamic scholar also says that we must gain knowledge from infant until the last breath.AL-QURAN says in surah AL-ALAQ verse 1"proclaim!(or read!) in the name of your Lord and Cherisher,Who created".For me,that is only my opinion.salam....

in my opinion,it is disagreed that people should stop learning just for the purpose of possessing credentials because it is a kind of ticket for good job in the future.

like sarah said,"it is not a necessity to learn only for the sake of credentials but indeed it is a need to learn for your future life".it is true that we need to learn for future life but what if you only have the knowladge but not in the black and white and first thing that you being asked while you want to get a job is the certificates. if everyone want a god bless like haji ibrahim had, why dont all of us ended our school when we was 15. then we can be an owner of bus company. isn't it?....

so,it is totally disagreed that people sholud stop learing just for purpose of possessing credentials and this is only my opinion....

tengkiu...

okaaaayyy, someone up for a debate..

Thank you for refuting sarah and nice one.
Well I do agree about what sarah said, god do bless Haji Ibrahim, and a lot of people will start dreaming to become like him after this without possesing credential. If only life is that simple, but it is not.

You see students don't have much choice. Like us for example, either we get good credential, or we can say goodbye to IIUM. What you'll do if your given only these 2 option?? I'll answer it, getting good credential isn't it.

...aaaannnd about unemployed graduates. It true there's a lot of them but which one is better un employed graduates or unemployed and ungraduate..
For example, here you go with only your spm certificate with dreams to
become the "Pengusaha Bas Ekspres" like haji Ibrahim. Do you think you can compete with those "unemployed graduates"...????

think about it...
for me, people only giving excuses about not wanting to learn to possess credential..
The truth is they don't want to study.. thats all..

thank you n god bless..
nothing personal ok..

salam all up and down here.
for me, it have pros and cons about this topic. hmm, are student should stop learning just for the purpose of possessing crendetials? some say yes or no. for me, like i just said early, there are pros and cons. the pros is, people who studied gets the knowledge easily without experience and they are knowledgeable. they are fresh and well graduated and ready to work. the cons is, depends to student attitude whether they want to apply it or not their knowledge to society. that was the pros and cons about people who further the studies. for the people who does not further the study, this is the pros and cons. the pros is, they are more experience in specific field that they like, as an example in business field, it's true that we must know that we have to learn about how to make business, but through experience also, we can gain the knowledge. just an example, just near example, my father, he use to work as broker, trader for the maybank and his qualifications was just spm only and suprisingly, just with that qualification,he is get promoted for salary increase every year and now he is a businessman with only spm qualification and now further study in Bachelor In Business Management to improve his skill. but the cons is, to gain knowledge through experience indicates a long time but from experience, we can learn something because experience is a good teacher.
hmm, that's all can i wrote, depends to you judge whether is okay or not.

peace!
TAKBIR!

sorry because late to do my job.hehe..

absolutely,i agreed that people should stop learning just for the purpose of possessing credentials. i want answer it in terms of religion.
the god was sais in al quran that we as human must do anything with sincerely and not for something such as get A in exam. when we do sincerely, fortunately, the god will give to us what we not imagine before this such as get the highest mark in the exam.people who always study just for purpose are material person.

Iman said...

salam madam, sory for the late reply.hehe...

It is agreed that people should stop learning just for earning credentials.I'm not saying that credentials isn't important. It is important evenmore nowadays. It just that every individuals should bear in their mind the true purpose of their studying. To gain knowledge, practice it and help the society to be better.Like Ali said,it is just useless if you study and get an excellent, then just leave it like that.No contributions to society and even no benefit towards themselves. In short, credentials should be taken as motivation not purpose. For syafick,as u say -why don't all of us just stop studying and be a bus company owner right? well, not all people are able to study right from the facts, books or lectures.and this people knows what suits them better and thus, take other alternatives to make something out of their life.there's nothing wrong with that as long as they're happy and didn't trouble others.

sarahzahirah said...

to syafick!
thank you for your nice refutation.

i didnt mean that we have to be just like the "pengusaha bas ekspres," it is just an example for replying madam's question.she is asking for someone to give an example of someone who made it to the top without possessing credentials, ok... thats it..

the second one is about the black and white thingy..
think of this, if you are the one who doesn't have credentials or certificate or else, that shows you are knowledgeable, will you go to find jobs that need your credentials and whatsoever?? in real life itself shows that people who dont have these things wont allowed themselves being humiliated in such that way, wont they?

to junaidy;
if you are asking me that question, i'll say that, it is much depending on your own effort to seek knowledge. so, there is no such thing either they can compete or not, it is useless if those graduated students are effortless compared to these ungraduated students...

in conclusions,
if there is a will, there is a way...i agree with iman, credentials should be taken as motivation not your purpose...

may god bless all of us,
~aminn..~

Sharifah Munawwarah said...

I disagree with this statement because firstly, as many have said that, gaining knowledge is a part of ibadah. Secondly, it is common sense that with better and higher levels of credentials, the unemployed have better chances in obtaining better careers. If we only have SPM to show for, people might not have enough trust and confidence to employ us since we do not have more knowledge. SPM is almost the basic of knowledge for everyone, since it is a compulsory education. Therefore, if everyone has only SPM and nothing more, how can we judge who is more knowledgeable and more experienced than the others? Who is more suited for the job in interviews? Thus, with more credentials, we can show to the world that we have more to offer.

juz addin here.
knowledge is power, an action towards one purpose is mother of success, be truth, enjoy and bitterness, a job will not come along but must be sought for. are this word related to our topics? madam, please answer, thx.
